Hi all! I'm actually an OT, hope it's okay if I post my question here? I want to take a traveling assignment to Texas after the holidays. I started out talking to several companies, but once I got my Texas license and narrowed down a start date, I have let only one company shop me around. Is that what I should do, or should I let the other companies look for a placement for me as well?
I would hate to end up with nothing (how hard is it for them to find assignments?) but I would also not want the company to tell a facility they have someone and then I end up going with a different company. Is that the wrong attitude? Is it considered normal business to deal with more than one company for an assignment? Thanks! |

Thanks! your fine. the only your doing by going with one company is limiting the potential places that are availible to you. i am only with one company now. i have been told to have anywhere from 3 to 5 companies searching for you. that why they stay competing for you and your services. i will probably register with a total of 2 or 3. for me at this point i am not looking forward to making this more work than it needs to be. i want to enjoy my placement, i dont want to be calling all these companies to stay on top of who will put me where. this might change since i am starting my first placement dec 5, but for now im just riding it out. good luck. |

How long did it take you to get your placement? Did you have a specific request? I want to go to a specific city (houston) because I have a bf there. I'm not concerned with making more work for myself, but I want to make sure if I talk to more than one company I'm not misleading them into thinking I will be able to accept a placement from them when I might get a better offer and not take it, you know? Do you tell them upfront you're talking to others? Also, how will you handle the logistics of it all? Have you given thought into how you will get 3 months worth of stuff into your car? It's kind of overwhelming for me! Thanks for the reply, and good luck yourself! what you do is register with them which is actually like a PRN position until you accept a placement and sign a contract. so call up a company and tell them.......hi, im so n so and i want to work in houston, what can you offer me. i filled out a questionaire and had it next to me when i was talkning to the companies so i could get a better picture across the board with the companies. you fingur it will take two weeks to get the paper work done then a month or two to get a out of state license. remember you are offering your services to them and they can t make money without us. i am going to travel with Reflectx because i liked there benefits and what they offered eventhough it was not the highest paying of the companies. i start in two weeks i will be able to let you know more later. remember you get a housing stipend of tax free money if you chose to find your own place to stay.
