I am a Junior in High School and I would like to become a PT. I have been a patient going through PT twice before and I then became very interested in the profession. Right now I am volunteering at the Hospital dealing with outpatients. If anyone has any advice for me or suggestions on how I should approach this, it would be well appreciated. Thanks!

I love how 150 people have viewed your entry and no one has responded...
I don't know what your plans are but I can tell you my experience. I graduated from university with a degree in Exercise physiology which is also a good pre-physical therapy degree. In other words, since you need your masters degree in physical therapy my major covered nearly all the prerequisites I need in order to get into a graduate program. Right now my schooling is on hold. I would suggest continuing with your volunteering and research what schools you would like to attend to get your bachelors degree and your masters degree in Physical Therapy, that way you can talk to your academic advisors and tell them exactly what you want to do. (They're no help if you don't spell things out to them.) good luck |

Thanks a lot Monnelise for replying!! I check it frequently waiting to see if anyone has replied. Again I thank you for your advice. I'll definitely take it all into consideration. I'm beginning to look around at diferent colleges and/or universities that i'd be interested in attending. Since I live in Texas, there is the University of Texas Medical Branch that I could always look into. Thanks again and i'll continue to look more into schools and talk to my counselors when school starts up again. You have been a big help.

I have done a lot of research and it can get discouraging with all the schools and classes you have to take. I would like to give you a workd of advise. Make sure that if you decide to go into a PT assistant or aide program that you ask if that will lead into a PT school acceptance. I am in Houston, Texas and those programs are just associate programs so it doesn't ness. help you get to PT. But the info you get may help in the future classes you take. Just a word of advise though. I didn't realize that was the case until I did my research. I have a few friends that are PT and they love it and the money is good. Research vaitous types of therepist to be sure that is where your heart lies. Good Luck! |

Do you think that would work to master in PT? Also what schools are available in houston to get your masters for physical therapy? -------------------- [FONT=Courier][B][SIZE=14][COLOR=purple]Always live your life to the fullest!
